Workers’ Compensation Senior Claims Associate

This position works collaboratively with our Clients, insurance carriers, and loss control personnel to reduce and mitigate our workers' compensation exposures. This position also collaborates with our underwriters and other internal departments to coordinate and deliver Engage’s products and services to our Clients.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Promptly investigate all reported employee injuries by contacting the injured employee, his/her supervisor, or witnesses and reviewing all other evidence related to the work incident
  • Conduct and document a root cause analysis and recommendations for safety improvement in coordination with the loss control representatives for all serious incidents
  • Coordinate with Loss control and safety to provide safety-related information for the reduction of frequent injuries
  • Manage an established caseload of indemnity workers’ compensation claims in conjunction with our insurance carrier's Third-Party Administrator (TPA) to effectively and timely provide benefits to injured workers when due under the requisite state laws
  • Communicate with the insurance adjuster, Client, injured worker, and any other persons involved throughout the claim to ensure timely payment of all proper benefits due
  • Maintain an organized file, documented with clear and concise notes of activities and action plans, so that co-workers or managers can quickly review it
  • Maintain a diary so all claim files are monitored, reviewed, and closed on time
  • Maintain ongoing communication with involved parties as necessary and prepare for Client claim reviews and audits as required
  • Provide exceptional client service to internal and external Clients

Other Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to oversee Insurance Carrier or TPA staff to ensure best practices and contractual compliance. Ensure our partners control the cost of claims through effective diary management and oversight of claim files
  • Check policy coverage to ensure the claim is covered and set up in to correct location
  • Determine when vendor involvement is necessary, such as medical case management, vocational rehabilitation counseling, legal, surveillance, Independent Medical Examiner (IME), Independent Adjuster (IA), etc., and direct the insurance adjuster to assign and monitor the vendor services to ensure the effective cost containment of expenses on claims
  • Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Minimum of 5 years of claims experience or employer risk management experience
  • Multi-state experience including litigation is required
  • Professional Employer Organization (PEO) experience is a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office and Intermedial Microsoft EXCEL skills
  • PrismHR experience a plus

COMPENSATION:

The starting base pay for this position is listed below. However, you should know that the pay rate may vary based on regional location, the candidate’s skill, and relevant experience. In addition, some positions may include a form of bonus or other incentive compensation which would not be included in this salary range. 

Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000
