The Benefit Consultant-Client Sponsored Plan (CSP) within the Engage insurance agency manages and oversees a designated block of business, ensuring efficient operations and timely fulfillment of client and carrier requirements. This role supports client retention and new sales when approved, involving collaboration with CSP operations, auditing renewal policies, tracking assignments, and working with the benefit compliance team. Key responsibilities include submitting client renewal decisions, maintaining client relationships, addressing escalated issues, and participating in client and internal meetings. The Benefit Consultant-CSP also evaluates and improves processes, coordinates open enrollment logistics, reviews client contracts, and supports clients with insurance needs.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Manage and oversee assigned business block, ensuring efficient operations and meeting open enrollment deadlines with clients and carriers.
  • Collaborate closely with CSP Operations to maintain effective business practices.
  • Audit renewal policies for accuracy and ensure proper rate loading in the carrier system using online portals.
  • Track CSP Operations assignments, including bidding processes, client census requests, benefit guides, and collaborating with the Benefit Compliance team.
  • Support new sales efforts when allowed by the organization.
  • Submit final client renewal decisions to Benefits Specialists, ensuring accurate portal build information.
  • Ensure renewals are completed and finalized with specific carriers online.
  • Manage client services and daily needs to retain accounts, establish strong relationships, and achieve high levels of satisfaction.
  • Analyze and communicate coverage gaps to enhance client benefit offerings.
  • Maintain and update client files, escalating complex issues to Agency Managers as needed.
  • Address escalated participant issues with insurance carriers/TPAs.
  • Participate in internal meetings, acting as a liaison with internal staff and operations.
  • Communicate program information to various departments and evaluate current processes for improvement.
  • Assess claim and billing trends, escalating potential risks to management and developing solutions.
  • Implement communication timelines for client open enrollment programs.
  • Plan and prepare for open enrollment, including setting meeting dates, coordinating logistics, and providing updated benefit guides.
  • Review client contracts, summary plan descriptions, insurance certificates, and employee communications.
  • Coordinate and manage client projects, addressing needs and troubleshooting claim issues.
  • Perform research using online carrier tools and internal resources to respond to questions.
  • Support team members with client insurance needs, maintaining client files and providing quotes.
  • Regularly update the Agency Manager on client issues and potential solutions.
  • Utilize and refine templates for benefit guides, quote comparisons, and census.
  • Understand HIPAA laws and ensure confidentiality of employee information.
  • Follow all Agency Policy Procedures and checklists related to department responsibilities.
  • Stay knowledgeable about competitors' players, products, provisions, and philosophies to position the organization effectively by leveraging core value propositions and competencies.
  • Support internal teams during the annual benefits renewal process for assigned clients, collaborating with the Engage PEO Benefit Operations team and the Agency Director of Benefits Risk and Underwriting.
  • Participate in special projects that support the agency's organizational needs, effectively assessing and communicating business impacts.
  • Perform other duties as required. 

Other Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Stay informed about competitors' players, products, provisions, and philosophies to position the organization effectively by leveraging core value propositions and competencies. Keep the Sales Leader, Referring Broker, and Benefits Operations team informed, engaging them as needed.
  • Delegate tasks to the Engage PEO Benefit Operations team, providing direction and mentoring as needed.
  • Develop client-specific marketing communication materials and work with the Engage account management team to ensure a smooth transition for affected clients.
  • Support internal teams during the annual benefits renewal process for assigned clients, collaborating with the Engage PEO Benefit Operations, Master Medical Team, and engaging other business partners as appropriate.
  • Work with internal teams to identify opportunities for process improvement to benefit individual clients and the broader customer base, as well as enhance overall Engage processes.
  • Participate in special projects that support the agency's organizational needs, effectively assessing and communicating business impacts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum 4 years relevant work experience, health benefits
  • Professional Employer Organization (PEO) experience is a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office and Intermedial Microsoft EXCEL skills
  • Must possess Health insurance license or obtain within 6 months of hire date 
  •  Working knowledge of the Health Insurance industry across all coverage lines; Health, Life Disability, Dental, and Vision plans and familiarity with ACA and compliance, preferred

COMPENSATION:

The starting base pay for this position is listed below. However, you should know that the pay rate may vary based on regional location, the candidate’s skill, and relevant experience. In addition, some positions may include a form of bonus or other incentive compensation, which would not be included in this salary range. 

Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
